Alumni Association Board

The Alumni Association Board works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations to develop and strengthen programs that enhance the relationships alumni have to the University and to each other. Board members are committed to supporting Carnegie Mellon's overall interests among the entire alumni community and in the world at large. Membership represents a broad diversity of college and departmental affiliations, class years, geographies and personal backgrounds. Board members meet three times per year in person (twice in Pittsburgh and once outside of Pittsburgh) and Board committees often meet or hold conference calls between meetings.

Toni L. Sapet Ungaretti (MM'70), PresidentClick to expand

Toni co-chairs the Nominating Committee, and she also serves on the Awards Committee. She serves as faculty and assistant dean in the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Her interest and scholarship focuses on building effective partnerships among business, government and higher education; creating and supporting professional development systems; and designing curriculum and instruction for professional education. She serves on several community, state, and national professional committees and boards. Her husband and son are also alumni - Bob (E'70) and Ryan (E'04).

Rebecca Albrecht Allison (CMU'96, HNZ'01), President Elect Click to expand

Becca has been on the Alumni Association Board since July 2010 and serves as co-chair of the Nominating Committee and is a member of both the Awards and Bylaws Committees. Becca earned a B.H.A. degree in 1996 and an M.P.M. from Heinz College in 2001. After graduation, Becca taught in Houston, TX with the Teach for America program before returning to Carnegie Mellon to work in student affairs for five years.

In 2003, she relocated to Arizona and taught again in a small private school for five years before working for Arizona State University as Director of Special Events in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Becca is a member of Alpha Chi Omega women's fraternity and enjoys reading, crafting, and spending time in the mountains and by the pool. She lives in Phoenix, AZ with her husband, Jerry.

Beverley R. Wheeler, Ed.D. (DC'76, HNZ'78), Past President Click to expand

Beverley Wheeler is the immediate past president of the Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association. She is a graduate of the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1976 and the Heinz College in 1978. While at Carnegie Mellon, Beverley was involved in WRCT radio station and was the President of Student Government. She was voted in during her sophomore year, a feat that has not been accomplished since. After graduation, Beverley has served on the Heinz College Alumni Board, the Andrew Carnegie Society Board, has been involved with the Carnegie Mellon Black Alumni Association and the DC Alumni Chapters. She has also served as a mentor working with the Heinz DC program. As the President of the Alumni Association, Beverley will also serve on the Board of Trustees.

In addition to her involvement with Carnegie Mellon, Beverley has worked professionally in both the private and public sectors. Most recently, Beverley was the Executive Director of the DC State Board of Education. She is now the President and CEO of the Center City Public Charter Schools. Beverley resides in Washington, DC.

Jennifer Cerully (CS'04) Click to expand

Jennifer co-chairs the Nominating Committee and is a member of the Loyal Scot Committee. She graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and Decision Science from Carnegie Mellon and earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. Jennifer is currently an Associate Behavioral and Social Scientist at RAND Corporation where she conducts research on health decision-making. As a student at Carnegie Mellon, she was a Head Orientation Counselor, Community Advisor, research assistant in the department of Social and Decision Sciences, and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Women@SCS, and Society of Women Engineers, among other organizations. She and her husband, Jonathan Chu (CS'04), reside in Pittsburgh.

Alex DiClaudio (TPR'09, DC'09, HNZ '11) Click to expand

Alex serves as the Co-Chair of the Loyal Scot Committee and is a member of the Awards Committee.  He earned a BA Economics from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business in 2009, and Master of Arts Management from the H. John Heinz III College in 2011.  He was heavily involved in the Kiltie Band as an undergrad, and in Scotch'n'Soda Theatre as both an undergrad and a grad student.  Alex is an independent entertainment producer through his Pittsburgh-based company DiClaudio Productions, LLC.

Keith joined the Alumni Association Board in 2012 and serves on the Networks Committee. He earned a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon and holds a MBA from the University of Southern California. While at Carnegie Mellon, Keith was active in Student Government as well as various student organizations. Keith has been involved in the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter serving as past President, volunteering with CMAC to help with alumni interviews for potential incoming Carnegie Mellon students, and helps mentor the graduating MEIM students in their final projects. Keith is currently Vice President of Operations Engineering and PMO at LegalZoom but has worn many hats in various industries including entertainment and healthcare. Keith and his wife reside in Los Angeles with their newborn daughter.

Tori serves on the Loyal Scot Committee. She earned a B.S. in Administration and Management Science and French from the Tepper School, a M.S. in Public Policy and Management from the Heinz College, and an M.S. and Ph.D from Engineering and Public Policy in CIT. Tori is the co-founder of Numeritics, a research and consulting firm based in Pittsburgh, and is a Fellow with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), based at the National Science Foundation. Tori is active in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education policy, and is a board member of NEED, a Western Pennsylvania minority college access program, where she has been instrumental in establishing a STEM program for underrepresented 6th grade girls.

Paresh Kapashi (TPR'90) Click to expand

Paresh serves on the Regions Committee. He graduated in civil engineering from University of Bombay and then pursued his MBA at Carnegie Mellon (TPR '90). Paresh has been involved in a family businesses in Bombay, which include global trading in steel, metal and thermal coal, real estate development and investments.

He and his wife, Nandini have 2 children, Riah is a junior at University of Pennsylvania and Karan is a senior at high school. Paresh is an avid golfer and enjoy traveling, movies and music.

John Kovacs (CIT'93) Click to expand

John serves on the Eras Committee. He is a Senior Vice President and Director of the Midwest Region of Gannett Fleming, Inc., an international engineering and construction management firm. He is a graduate of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering where he received a B.S.C.E. with a minor in Environmental Engineering. He also holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Pittsburgh. As an alumnus of Carnegie Mellon University, John has been very active through service on the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Advisory Council.

He is also engaged in numerous student outreach programs on campus and championed his firm in becoming the first consortium partner of the Pennsylvania Smart Infrastructure Incubator (PSII), a collaboration between Carnegie Mellon and industry to advance the next generation of infrastructure, transportation and manufacturing technology. He is the 2009 recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Service Award from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and was presented the Alumni Association Alumni Service Award in 2010. John resides in the south hills of Pittsburgh with his wife, Lisa, and their two children, Madison and Jack.

Christine Nolin (S'85) Click to expand

Chris joined the Board in 2012 and currently serves on the Loyal Scot and Awards Committees. She earned her B.S. degree in Chemistry in 1985 and an M.A. in Corporate & Organizational Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1989. Her professional career has included such positions as a polymer chemist, a cardiovascular ICU nurse, an IT systems trainer for a NASA subcontractor, and a software development project manager. She is currently delighted to be a senior project manager for enterprise applications with the Division of Computing Services at Carnegie Mellon.

Chris is also an advisor for Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and the Delta Upsilon fraternity colony on campus, and is active in a number of staff organizations. She lives in Pittsburgh with her husband, Bob, and her two children, Liz (A'16) and Patrick.

Kevin O'Brien (E'00) Click to expand

Kevin joins the Alumni Board in 2012 and will serve on the Networks Committee, and looks forward to applying his experience as the Past-President of the New York Metro Chapter. Prior to serving as President, Kevin served a number in a number of Chapter leadership roles and was an active event coordinator. Kevin earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering and works as a Project Engineer at Hatch Mott MacDonald in Millburn, NJ consulting on municipal wastewater and drinking water issues. As a student, he worked in the Admissions office and has participated in CMAC since graduation.

Kevin lives in New York City with his partner Chris, and loves the great variety of theater in New York. A passion for travel cultivated as an exchange student in Tokyo and Moscow continues, and his travels incorporate cruising, skiing, scuba diving and exploring the world of wine.

Joyce Page (MM'72) Click to expand

Joyce has been on the Alumni Association board since September, 2009 and currently serves on the Eras Committee. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Margaret Morrison in 1972. After graduation, Joyce was one of the founding members of the Houston Alumni Clan and held several different leadership offices. Once she moved to Ohio, she served as President of the Northeast Ohio Alumni Clan for a number of years.

In 2007, Joyce was co-chairman for her Homecoming Class Reunion. She is also a member of the Andrew Carnegie Society. Joyce's career in Information Technology as a systems analyst spans more than 20 years with experience in banking, insurance and government. Currently she is employed at the United States Department of Defense. Joyce is happily married to Robert W. Page, Jr. (E'71) and has two grown children. She has traveled to all 50 states of the USA, as well as traveled to many countries abroad. In her free time, Joyce enjoys sailing and downhill skiing.

Scott serves as co-chair of the Networks committee and is also on the Awards Committee. He has a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration. Scott is co-founder of Bancroft Green, an award winning real estate development company that focuses on high-end, sustainable housing. Their current project is registered to be LEED Platinum.

In addition to his alumni engagement with CMU, Scott is Vice-President for the Board of Trustees at the Waldorf School of Philadelphia and a former alumni board member at The Westtown School. A native of the Philadelphia, Scott lives in town with his wife and two children.

Sangita Sharma (E'13) Click to expand

Sangita Sharma is the AAB Student Representative. She oversees all student involvement with Office of Alumni Relations including the Loyal Scot Program. She is currently a senior double majoring in Materials Science and Biomedical Engineering. She is also currently a Highland Ambassador and the Co-facilitator of the Community Building Committee for the College of Engineering. Her other positions in student organizations at CMU have included Head Orientation Counselor, Student Body Vice President, Student Dormitory Council Secretary/Treasurer and Resident Assistant. Her hometown is in central Pennsylvania.

Suzanne Rothfeld Steven (TPR'93) Click to expand

Suzanne is the co-chair of the Awards Committee, serves on the Loyal Scot & Nominating Committees and has been a member of the Alumni Association Board since July 2009. She earned her bachelor's degree in Industrial Management in 1993. During Suzanne's time on campus, she was an active member of the campus leadership community which included: Membership Chairman for Kappa Kappa Gamma women's fraternity, Sleeping Bag Weekend Coordinator, Campus Tour Guide, Resident Assistant, Orientation Counselor, and Pre-College Counselor and Head Counselor. As an alumnus of the university, Suzanne played an instrumental part in developing the Denver Alumni Chapter in Colorado, where she served as chapter president for five years.

She has also served as a CMAC Director for the past 19 years. Suzanne is founder and President of SRS Consulting, LLC, a firm that provides sales and marketing departments strategic guidance and services to senior management of several national CPG firms. She resides in Broomfield, Colorado, with her husband, John C. Steven III (E'94), and their two daughters, Sophia and Jacqueline. When not working and raising their children, Suzanne keeps herself busy training and competing in triathlons and half marathons.

Holly joined the AAB in 2011 and serves on the Regions Committee. She is the immediate Past President of the New York Chapter and a past member of the Heinz College AAB. Holly has also served on CMAC since 2004. Holly graduated from CMU with a BS in Psychology in 1996 and from the Heinz College in 1998 with an MS in Healthcare Policy & Management.

While at CMU, Holly was an Orientation Counselor, active in intramural sports, Dancers Symposium and a SURG grant recipient for a cognitive psychology study. She recently earned an MS degree from NYU in Global Affairs and works in the federal government. Holly and her husband live in NYC with their cat, Saki.

William Thomas Wood, II (E'74) Click to expand

Tom serves on the Alumni Interest Groups (AIG) Committee and the Awards Committee. He graduated with a B.S. in Metallurgy and Materials Science in 1974 and has been employed in the specialty steel industry since graduation, currently serving as Sr. Vice President of Operations and Technology with Electralloy in Oil City, PA.

Tom has a deep interest in one of the traditions of CMU, Buggy, and is an advisor to the AIG, Buggy Alumni Association. Tom was a former Buggy Safety Chairman and President and Chapter Advisor to Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He currently resides in Oil City with his wife Terri and dog Tia.

Thomas Yeung (I'98) Click to expand

Thomas serves on the Regions Committee. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Administration majored in Manufacturing and Operations Management. During his 4 years at CMU, he founded the Hong Kong Students Association (HKSA) and became one of the three Co-Founding Presidents of HKSA. After graduation, he returned to his hometown Hong Kong and initiated the starting of the CMU Hong Kong Alumni Chapter with a few active alumni and since then he continues to serve as the President of the CMU Hong Kong Alumni Chapter and a member of CMAC. Thomas has been working for his family uniforms manufacturing business since 1998. In 2001, he started a new venture in environmental technologies and products and today it has grown to become one of the leading environmental technology companies in China specializing in biological organic waste treatment, small wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, biological cleaning and water treatment products as well as advanced material for LED lamps.

Deborah W. Yue (DC'89) Click to expand

Deborah joined the Alumni Association Board in 2010 and serves on the Bylaws, Nominating and Networks Committees. She earned a B.S. in Technical Writing and a J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. While she was at Carnegie Mellon, she was a reporter for the Tartan and was active in the pre-law society.  Deborah is the immediate past president of the Northeast Ohio Alumni chapter and is a Carnegie Mellon Admissions Council volunteer. She is also active in a number of professional and community organizations.

Deborah is a partner at Gallagher Sharp in Cleveland, Ohio. She concentrates her practice on insurance and general liability litigation and represents businesses, insurance companies, and individuals in a wide variety of civil litigation.  She also counsels insurance companies and claims personnel on coverage issues, claims practices and the avoidance of bad faith.
