Moneythink CMU Alumni Mentor Registration

You are invited to become involved with Moneythink CMU a national college student movement working to promote financial literacy among low income urban youth. Two years ago, Family Services of Western Pennsylvania approached the Tepper School of Business, and subsequently CMU's Undergraduate Economics Program founded a chapter of Moneythink. The goal of our chapter is send CMU students into local public high school classrooms to instruct students in money management skills using the Moneythink "Economic Opportunity Curriculum".

CMU Moneythink students want to contribute to the region by providing pre-college students with knowledge and tools that are not readily available to them. Our mentors represent all of the undergraduate colleges (CFA, CIT, DC, MCS, SCS, TPR) and are joined by their passion for promoting financial literacy education in urban youth populations.

We are seeking your help in serving as a mentor to a CMU Moneythink student member. Serving as a mentor to a CMU student would involve the following opportunities for this year:

  • Attend our chapter kickoff event at CMU on November 13 from 7:30-8:15 a.m.
  • Participate in three conversations this year with a CMU student to share your expertise and professional advice. These conversations may be in person, by phone, Skype or e-mail.
  • Provide CMU students with suggestions for the Moneythink curriculum.
If you are unable to serve as a mentor, Moneythink CMU is also seeking guest speakers for future Moneythink events. If you would like to serve as a mentor or guest speaker for Moneythink CMU, we invite you to attend our chapter kickoff event on November 13 to learn more information about the program.

Thank you for considering this very meaningful opportunity to give back to CMU and the greater Pittsburgh community.
