What We Can Do For You

As a Carnegie Mellon University alumnus, you have access to a diverse network of resources to help you advance through your career. Through networking options like the Alumni Career Advisor Network and regional alumni events, you can meet fellow alumni and gain knowledge on industries, seek career advice, and connect with your peers. Your job searches can be augmented using the online and in-person services available through the Office of Alumni Relations, the university’s Career Center, as well as school-specific career services.

ALUMNI RELATIONS

A Note About Networking and Current Students: Carnegie Mellon University and the Office of Alumni Relations strive to create multiple networking opportunities for both alumni and current students. As alumni, you may be contacted by current students seeking to discuss career fields, choices and opportunities. The Office of Alumni Relations provides these students with a set of guidelines for contacting alumni. These guidelines can be found in the student services section of the alumni Web site under Career Resources.

Carnegie Mellon Alumni Group on LinkedIn
Are you LinkedIn? The Office of Alumni Relations has partnered with the premier online networking Web site, LinkedIn to create a networking group for the Carnegie Mellon community (including students, faculty, and staff).

Through the 4,500 member Carnegie Mellon Alumni group you can:

  • Leverage the power of your alumni community to find and reach new business contacts
  • Accelerate your career through referrals from the Carnegie Mellon Alumni group
  • Post and distribute job listings, as well as search for great jobs
  • View detailed profiles of fellow students, alumni, faculty and staff of Carnegie Mellon

Alumni Career Advisor Network (ACAN)
A searchable database of alumni career profiles, ACAN helps you to expand your professional network, gain knowledge that will benefit your career, and share your knowledge with other alumni and students.

Online Community Job and Resume Postings
This online service allows alumni to search job postings listed by alumni of Carnegie Mellon University, as well as listings from a network of more than 150 peer institutions.

Carnegie Mellon eProNet
eProNet is an online jobs database specifically for alumni of the nation's top universities.

NETWORK NIGHTS

Network Nights are a long-standing tradition at Carnegie Mellon University. For more than 20 years, these regional receptions have brought those seeking employment together with alumni and employers in an after-work reception. Network Nights are a series of annual events in such major metropolitan regions as Boston, Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Washington. Los Angeles and Seattle are new additions to the 2007 schedule.

Career Resource Center
Located in the university Career Center, resources include references and publications describing various career fields, labor market supply and demand, on-line and hard-copy directories, employer literature, videotapes and "Career Briefs" information handouts. The Career Resource Center is open when classes are in session until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until 5:00 p.m. on Friday,.

Counseling
Alumni may schedule an appointment to meet with or talk by phone with a Career Consultant in the Career Center to explore career options, identify and plan job search strategies, refine your resume and cover letter, and discuss interviewing issues. Graduate school planning assistance is also provided.

Credential Service
Alumni may create a personal credential file (typically consisting of reference letters) to be sent to employers or graduate schools upon your request. For up to one year after graduation, you may have 10 sets of credentials prepared and sent standard mail only without charge. A complete description of the service and fees are available from the Career Center upon request.

MonsterTRAK
MonsterTRAK offers twenty-four hour access to experienced, full-time job vacancies for Carnegie Mellon alumni. You do not need a password to gain access to the service. Simply visit the Web site, select Pennsylvania, and then Carnegie Mellon University.

Campus Interviews
Campus interviews and other recruiting events primarily focus on entry-level employment opportunities for current students. Recent graduates have full access to these events and services, including campus interviews, for one year past their graduation date.

TartanTRAK
Alumni one year post graduation can continue to access TartanTRAK to utilize on-campus recruiting, provided they are still seeking their first post-graduate employment opportunity. For access, please send a request to recruit@andrew.cmu.edu.
