Alumni Interest Groups and Affinity programming are just two more ways to keep alumni connected to each other, to a shared interest and to their Carnegie Mellon community.
 Alumni Interest Group (AIG)
The Alumni Association Board has defined Alumni Interest Groups as any group of Carnegie Mellon alumni who share a common interest or bond and who desire to affiliate with each other as a sub-group of the Alumni Association. Alumni Interest Groups are formed around at least one of the following criteria:
- Former membership in an officially recognized student organization,
- A shared personal characteristic (such as ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation),
- A shared postgraduate professional experience (such as entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, etc.).
