About the Award

The Alumni Association voted in 2005 to create a new award to recognize current Carnegie Mellon faculty who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the support and education of Carnegie Mellon alumni around the world. The award has been established in honor of Edward, E'43, '44, '49, and Virginia, A'43, Schatz and their exemplary service to Carnegie Mellon University over many years. The faculty commitment may be demonstrated through participation in alumni organizations and/or through individual contact with students and alumni. The award recipient(s) should be seen as an example of faculty service to Carnegie Mellon alumni for other faculty to follow.
