Jay E. Price, S’66, President

Jay Price graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a BS in Mathematics and then received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for Procter & Gamble in Information Technology for thirty-six years, retiring in January 2004. In addition to the IT responsibilities, for many years Jay had overall responsibility for all P&G recruiting at Carnegie Mellon.

Jay has been on the Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association Board for four years and is the Alumni Association Board (AAB) representative to ACS. Jay has been recently named president-elect of the Alumni Association Board and will become president in July, 2006. Since retirement, he has devoted much of his time to working with non-profit organizations including the United Way, Cincinnati Hearing, Speech, and Deaf Center and serving as president of the American Jewish Committee, Cincinnati Chapter.

Richard T. Creech, E’84, President-Elect

Rick Creech is a 1984 graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology, BSCE. He is the current Vice President of Creech Engineers, a Civil Engineering firm with offices throughout Florida. He also currently serves on the Alumni Association Board, the Civil Engineering Department Advisory Board, and is past committee member of the Dean's Leadership Council. This sixth generation Floridian resides in Stuart, Florida. He is a past member of the Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity and the Carnegie Mellon University football team. He has been married to Jill (Hurst) Creech, E’82, for more than 21 years and has two daughters.

Daniel T. Green, A’94, Past President

Daniel T. Green became president of Carnegie Mellon’s Alumni Association Board in July 2004 after serving 5 years on the board. He also has served as president and president emeritus of the university’s West Coast Drama Alumni Clan and was instrumental in creating the Showcase of New Talent, an annual program, now in its 10th year that brings up to 50 Carnegie Mellon graduating students to the west coast for a week-long series of auditions and interviews. He also initiated Carnegie Day, an annual fall event that brings together alumni in the Los Angeles Metro area.

Green is a recipient of the West Coast Drama Alumni Clan’s Directing Award, the Margaurite Carra Memorial Service Award and the Lincoln Academy’s Laureate Award. He received Carnegie Mellon’s Alumni Service Award in 1999. He was the keynote speaker at Carnegie Mellon’s 2005 Commencement and at the Freshman Orientation program in the fall.

Green, has worked as a director, producer and writer in television, film and theater for many years. His television production credits include such hits as ER, The Sopranos, Party of Five, Time of Your Life, Fantasy Island, The Adventures of Brisco County and, most recently, The West Wing. Green, who earned his master’s degree in directing at Carnegie Mellon, has directed more than 50 plays and produced two films, Entropy, which toured the country on the festival circuit, and Listen, a documentary about inner city teens avoiding involvement with drugs and alcohol.


Arnold N. Blinn, S’87

Arnold Blinn has been on the Alumni Association Board since December 2006 where he serves on the Regions, Awards, and Electronic Services Committees. Arnold graduated with a BS in Mathematics (Computer Science). At CMU he was involved in several different organizations and activities, including Buggy (Hill 1), SDC, Spring Carnival Chairman, and Freshman Orientation Chairman.

After graduation Arnold lived and worked in San Francisco for 10 years during which time he worked for several companies as a Software Engineer. In 1991 Arnold started eShop, Inc., a company devoted to online commerce. This company was subsequently sold to Microsoft in 1996 at which time he moved to Seattle where he has lived ever since. He is currently an Architect at Microsoft in the Windows Live Platform division focusing on communication products and web services.

Arnold is currently married with two children and is an avid skier.

Alexander D. Condron, TPR’89

Alexander Condron graduated from the Tepper School of Business in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management and worked for PNC Bank in the Corporate Credit and Corporate Cash Management areas. In 1992, he moved to the Drew Management Corporation, a real estate management company owned and operated by his family. Today, Alex serves as its president.

Alex has been a devoted member of the ACS Board since 1994, serving as ACS president from 2000 to 2002. He currently serves as the ACS Scholars Committee chair. He also is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association Board, serving on the Affinity and Classes committees and as a liaison between the ACS and AAB. He chaired the Colleges Committee of the AAB during fiscal year 2005.

In 1999, he chaired the Reunion Giving Bronze Group. Since 1991, Alex has been a presenter of the seminar "Investing 101" for the Slice of Life Program. Together, Alex and his wife, Tonja, established the Condron Family Legacy Scholarship to support undergraduate students in the business school. They sponsored a second scholarship for a CFA student in 2002. For his efforts on behalf of the university, Alex received the 2003 Alumni Service Award from the Alumni Association.

Joseph F. Di Mario, E’54, TPR’60

Joseph F. Di Mario graduated with a BS in engineering as well as an MS from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration. He currently serves as the executive director of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Foundation and Office for Stewardship and Development. Di Mario also co-owns Chetal, Inc., a floral design and event planning firm. Di Mario and his wife, Gloria, live in Pittsburgh.

Kevin J. Dowling, S’83, CS’94, ’97

Kevin Dowling has been on the Alumni Association Board since September 2005 and serves on the Regions and Affinity Committee of the AAB. Kevin has a BS in Mathematics and a Masters and PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon. Kevin was an active undergraduate in several organizations including Carnegie Involvement Association (CIA), Scotch & Soda, Fencing, Ultimate and others.

Dowling remains active with the university in many ways. In addition to recruiting, he gives talks and lectures in the School of Computer Science and the School of Drama in the College of Fine Arts. He also teaches at a school in New England.

Kevin is Vice-President of Strategic Technologies for Color Kinetics; a company founded by Carnegie Mellon alumni, and has helped grow the company from a startup to a public company. He lives in the Boston area with his wife, Mary Jo (McMahon) Dowling, CFA'82. Their children are also alumni (of the university’s Child Care Center).

Mitchell S. Fried, TPR’74, ‘75

Mitchell S. Fried has been on the National Alumni Board of Carnegie Mellon University since September 2005 and serves on the Regions and College Committees. He is also on the New York Alumni Board of the Tepper School of Business, where he has held several officer positions over the past 5 years. Mitchell graduated from the Tepper School of Business, where he received both his BS and MSIA/MBA in 1974 and 1975, respectively. He is currently the Global Head of Strategy, New Product & Business Development for Deutsche Bank's Trust and Securities Services Division. Mitchell has been in the financial services industry for over 25 years and has held senior management positions at Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase and Advanta Corp. He lives in Hoboken, NJ with his wife and has 2 grown children living in the NY metropolitan area.

Daniel I. Gilman, HS’04

Dan Gilman graduated from Carnegie Mellon in 2004 with a B.S. in Ethics, History, and Public Policy. As an undergrad, Dan served as Student Body President and Vice President. Additionally, Dan served for two years as the student member of the Board of Trustees Development Committee. Dan was also active in the Greek community serving as President and Vice President of Sigma Phi Epsilon. As a senior, Dan was named an Andrew Carnegie Society Scholar and he has turned that introduction to alumni involvement into a desire for a continuing relationship with Carnegie Mellon. Dan is a member of the Pittsburgh Alumni Chapter, has served on several advisory boards at the university, and is currently serving his first term on the Alumni Association Board.

Tracie Hall, HNZ'94

Tracie Hall is a native Texas. She is actively working to increase the CMU alumni presence in the Dallas Fort-Worth area. Tracie brings more than 12 years of strategy, planning and operations improvement experience to the board. She is currently a Director of Human Resources for Capital One Financial Services, and formerly employed with leading global consulting firms and companies. In addition to her master's from the H. John Heinz School of Public Policy & Management, Tracie holds a BA and MBA from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

While at Carnegie Mellon University, Tracie was activity with several affinity groups. Tracie served as the President of the Black Graduate Student Association, partnered with Tepper School of Business students to begin the I Have a Dream Inc-Pittsburg chapter, and received the Otto A. Davis Award for Racial and Social Justice.

Kevin A. Joy, E'89

Kevin A. Joy is a 1989 graduate of Carnegie Mellon where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Biomedical Engineering. Upon graduation, Kevin spent several years with IBM as an Advisory Client Manager where he focused upon the successful integration of information technology with manufacturing business strategy. In 1995, he earned the CIRM designation from the American Production and Inventory Control Society.

In 1998, Kevin attained his MBA from the John M. Olin School of Business, Washington University where he served on the Graduate Business Council and was a graduate student member of the Board of Trustees. After completing his degree, Kevin joined Goldman, Sachs & Co where he currently serves as Regional Director, Goldman Sachs Asset Management. His focus at Goldman Sachs is working directly with wealthy investors and their financial intermediaries on portfolio strategy. He is a frequent speaker to both clients and intermediaries on topics ranging from global economics to alternative investments.

Kevin is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and his civic and community interests include positions on the CIT Dean's Leadership Council, as a Vice President of the Auxiliary Board, Art Institute of Chicago, as a Past President of the Carnegie Mellon Chicagoland Alumni Organization, and as a member of the Milwaukee Forum, a community focus group. Kevin resides in Milwaukee, WI with his lovely wife, Susan and his sometimes well-behaved daughters Sydney & Jillian.

Erik K. Larson, TPR’96

Erik is a 1996 graduate from the Tepper School of Business, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management. As an undergrad he served as a Resident Assistant and Community Advisor in the Student Life system. He was elected to Student Senate and chaired its Public Relations committee prior to becoming Student Government Chief of Staff. He received two student undergraduate research grants (SURG), using one to develop a new undergraduate course focused on the use of computer visualization in architectural design along with two other students. He was also active with the buggy team of SDC, a member of the Vice President's Student Advisory Council and one of two student members of the Campus Design Review Committee.

Erik is currently a Partner at Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. He works in the Accenture Information Management Services practice, collaborating with clients to integrate and manage all the diverse information assets necessary to plan and run a high-performance organization.

Previously, Erik worked for Bentley Systems, the world leader in software for the lifecycle of the world’s infrastructure, spanning architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and operations. Erik subsequently joined XLConnect Solutions where he helped grow the national systems integrator's application development practice until the firm was acquired by Xerox Corporation, ultimately forming the Xerox Global Services (XGS) division. As a Vice President at XGS, he managed the overall operations of the Midwest U.S., created vertical practices in the Retail/Consumer and Healthcare markets and led the development of offerings in the areas of corporate litigation and records management.

Since November 2004 Erik has served as President of the Chicago Alumni Chapter, where he has been leading a talented team of volunteers in revitalizing the regional group of 1,300+ alumni. He began serving on the national Alumni Association Board in September 2005. He resides in Chicago with his wife, Amy (Montanelli) Larson (E'95) where they both assist in the undergraduate admissions process as members of the Carnegie Mellon Admissions Council. Their interests include travel, wine, golf and spending time with their daughter.

Timothy Liu, HS’85

Tim Liu is a 1985 graduate from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He was President of the Washington, D.C./ Baltimore alumni chapter as well as Treasurer and Communications Chair. He has spoken to current students on making the transition to the professional workplace as part of the Slice of Life program. Tim is Executive Vice President of Synergy3, a sales and market research firm, and was formerly a director with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Louie Penaflorida Martirez, HNZ’95

Louie is a California native, raised in the East Bay. He is a Senior Management Information Systems Analyst at Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital Systems, Santa Clara, CA. Louie lives in Oakland and former elected official of the West Oakland Redevelopment Project Area Committee. Louie has served as the past president of the Heinz Bay Area Chapter 2004 - 2005 and now current member of the Heinz Bay Area and CMU San Francisco Alumni chapters. He also is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Alumni Association Board, serving on both the Regional and College committees and Andrew Carnegie Society.

Francine Simmons Beyer, HS'69

Fran is honored to be a newly appointed member of the Alumni Association Board (September 2006). She was previously active in the Philadelphia Clan, serving as a board member and Vice President for several years. In 2005, Fran created an endowed scholarship for an H&SS student majoring in psychology.

Fran received her B.A. from CMU in Psychology in 1969, was a research assistant at the CMU preschool the following year, and received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Temple University in 1985. Fran is a part-time consultant supporting schools and school districts in evaluating state and/or federally-funded programs.

Fran is an east coast native, growing up in Boston and New York City, and now lives in Philadelphia with her husband and son. Fran’s closest friends are her two CMU roommates, one lives in a Philadelphia suburb, the other in Cambridge. Her passions are her 2-year old Airedale, walking the beach in Longport, New Jersey where she unwinds, and the Boston Red Sox.

Heather Wasilowski Strong, A'93

Heather (Wasilowski) Strong graduated from Carnegie Mellon in 1993 with a Bachelor's of Architecture. The following year she served as the Ombudsman for the Department of Architecture, and in 1995 she received her Master's of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. While in graduate school she met her future husband, David. He, like her father and sister (Holly Wasilowski, A'00), is also an architect.

Heather and David have lived in Chicago for the past 10 years. Until recently she practiced with the firm of Valerio Dewalt Train, but now is on leave to raise new daughter Sadie. Heather is active in the Chicago Alumni Clan where for the past two years has served as the events committee chairman.

Toni L. Sapet Ungaretti, MM’70

Toni Ungaretti, MMCC '70, has completed her first year on the AAB. For CMU, she serves on her 35th Reunion Committee for the Class of 1970 and has served on its 30th Reunion Committee. In addition she serves on the Margaret Morrison Carnegie College Centennial Committee. With her husband, Bob -- EE '70, and her son, Ryan, EE'03, '04, she has hosted the Baltimore-Washington CMU Networking Events in 2003 and 2005.

Professionally she serves as faculty and assistant dean in the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education at Johns Hopkins University. Her responsibilities include undergraduate business, information systems, and interdisciplinary studies; graduate management, marketing, business transition, adult learning, and medical education (in development); and all non-credit programs in the school. Her interest and scholarship focuses on building effective partnerships among business, government and higher education; creating and supporting professional development systems; and designing curriculum and instruction for professional education. She serves on several community, state, and national professional committees and boards.

Punyashree Viswanath, HNZ’03

Punyashree holds a masters in Information Systems Management degree and has been on the Alumni Association Board since September 2005. She serves on the Affinity, Classes and Electronic Services Committees of the AAB. As a graduate student she was the student coordinator for the MISM mentorship program and organized several student activities in this capacity. Punyashree currently works in the financial services practice of a consulting company in New York City. Prior to this, she worked with a commodities trading firm.

Kristine M. Werlinich, HNZ’96

Kristine Werlinich is a member of AAB and former President of the Carnegie Mellon Los Angeles alumni chapter. She graduated in 1996 from the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management with a master in public management. Kristine currently is Director of Alumni Relations at UCLA School of Law.

Beverley R. Wheeler, HS’76, HNZ’78

Beverly Wheeler is an innovative senior executive with a successful background in corporate and public sector process development, organizational turnaround, civic engagement, community/economic development and planning as well as policy development and implementation. She has more than 25 years of progressive experience in public and private sector policy development.

She has worked under three mayors and three city administrators and a City Council member in the District of Columbia. Most recently, she was the president of The Pendleton Group, a private consulting firm building equitable communities through outreach, education, training and strategic planning.

Wheeler was the first executive director for Neighborhood Action, an innovative civic engagement program to improve service delivery and give resident voice to policy, planning and budgeting for the mayor of Washington, D.C., and was responsible for the development and publication of the Citywide Strategic Plan.

She is a member of the Carnegie Mellon University Heinz School Alumni Executive Board, the Andrew Carnegie Society and the Carnegie Mellon Black Alumni Association. She is a member of Collaboration DC and on the advisory board for the Neighborhood College - both initiatives of DC Agenda.

Wheeler holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the H. John Heinz School of Management and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon as well as both a doctorate and master’s in education from Harvard University.
